
Mr. Eric K. Tama BA, MPH (Health Economics)
Health Economist & Financing Specialist
Eric is a health economist and a health systems researcher with 11 years of working experience both in Kenya and internationally. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and a Master’s degree in public health specializing in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He is currently a doctoral fellow at Strathmore University and is the lead researcher in health policy evaluation work evaluating the implementation of regulatory reforms in the health sector in Kenya under a collaboration of Strathmore University and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He is also currently a Health Policy Analysis Fellow in the second cohort of the Health Policy Analysis fellowship sponsored by the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research and hosted by the University of Cape Town. He currently teaches Health Financing and Managerial Economics in the MBA Healthcare Management Masters programme at Strathmore University.
Eric has extensive experience in training healthcare managers both in public and private sectors on health systems strengthening with an emphasis on health policy and financing. He is also a trainer of trainers on the Kenya Health Public-Private Collaborations Strategy that provides a framework to guide collaborations between public contracting authorities and private organizations. His research interests are in health systems, health policy analysis and health financing.
